Lahore’s first floating restaurant is expected to open its doors to the public later this year, with work on the project now in its final stages, officials say.
The three-storey structure is being built on a canal that branches off the River Ravi, near Jallo Park. According to project managers, construction and civil works are progressing quickly, and the target is to complete the facility before the end of the year, subject to final safety checks and inspections.
The floating restaurant has been designed to host more than 200 guests at a time, offering a new waterfront dining experience for Lahoris.
Officials say the aim is to create a family-friendly venue where people can enjoy food along with scenic views of the canal.
Alongside indoor seating, the multi-level design is expected to provide open-air spaces so visitors can dine while enjoying the surroundings.
To support the floating structure, the canal is being deepened and reinforced. Sand and silt are being removed from the canal bed to ensure enough depth and stability for the restaurant once it is fully installed.
Project teams say work is continuing day and night to meet the announced timeline, with structural, mechanical, and finishing tasks being carried out in parallel.
The restaurant will not just focus on food. According to the project administration, the site will also offer:
- Dedicated parking space for visitors
- Basic amenities such as restrooms and lighting
- A variety of quality and diverse food options
Managing Director of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Raja Mansoor Ahmed, has described the project as a potential new landmark for Lahore.
