Titan Manga has announced exclusively with Anime Trending that it will publish a 3-in-1 edition of the historical action manga series Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem. The first volume is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2026 and collects the original manga’s first three volumes.
The first Japanese volume cover below is not final for the English version.
The manga series is written by Shinya Umemura (Record of Ragnarok manga co-writer) and drawn by Eiji Hashimoto. It was serialized in Coamix’s Monthly Comic Zenon magazine from October 25, 2010 to April 25, 2023. A total of 36 tankobon volumes were released in Japan. The series is also available digitally in English by Mangamo under the title The Shinsengumi.
A live-action Japanese TV drama series based on the manga will premiere in Japan on March 26, 2025. It will also stream outside of Japan on HBO Max on May 9, 2026 under the English title Song of the Samurai.
The manga also inspired an ongoing comedic spinoff manga series that began in May 2016. It was adapted into a 12-episode short TV anime series from LandQ Studios and was streamed on Crunchyroll.
Titan Manga describes the main premise of Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem as:
Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem tells the story of Hijikata Toshizou, the young, rebellious swordsman who would find fame as the Vice Commander of the Shinsengumi, the ruthless “Mibu Wolves” – a heroic police force who lived and died to restore order to the chaotic streets of Kyoto.
The manga’s first 3-in-1 volume is now available for pre-order from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Forbidden Planet in the U.K. and Europe.
