Now that all of us are interconnected, creators have to think of unique ways to interact with their target audiences. An emerging trend has been to use Reddit’s Ask Me Anything feature. Recently, producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti did just this to discuss IT: Welcome to Derry. Unfortunately, the executive producers didn’t have time to answer all of the fan questions.
However, the few tidbits of information that were given should make horror fans hopeful for the future. Likely the most exciting news is that Andy still plans to combine IT and IT: Chapter Two into one giant film filled with cut footage. Now, will this cut ever come to light? Who knows. But if Andy Muschietti wants it to happen, then we have a solid shot.
The second relevant piece of info regards a little-seen movie called Mama. Andy and Barbara Muschietti worked on the project back in 2013, and a sequel was announced the same year, but never went anywhere. A new sequel was announced in 2016, but that project never took off either.
When asked about Mama in the AMA, Barbara offered the following reply. “No one in the Muschietti universe ever really dies. We hold Mama very close to our hearts, so who knows?” While this is a far cry from a yes, it still isn’t a no. For those who enjoyed Mama, it looks like there is still a glimmer of hope for that long-lost sequel.
That’s all the information we have at this time. Make sure to check back here for more news and updates.
