Emirates Blues won the Emirates D50 title for the second time after a five-wicket victory over Abu Dhabi in the final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Set 189 to win, the Blues reached 190 for five in 40.4 overs, with wicketkeeper-batter Tanish Suri making 71 from 68 balls. His innings, which included eight fours and a six, gave the chase shape after Abu Dhabi had been bowled out for 188.
Suri was named player of the match for an innings that put the Blues in control of the run chase.
Earlier, Abu Dhabi’s total was built around 77 from Yayin Rai, while Mayank Chowdary added 22. But the Blues kept taking wickets at useful moments.
Awais Ali Shah was the standout with the ball, finishing with 4 for 42. Ajay Kumar took 2 for 23, while Muhammad Mohsin claimed 2 for 38.
Rahul Chopra added 40 in the chase as Emirates Blues closed out the match with more than nine overs to spare.
The title is their second in the competition after winning the inaugural edition in August 2021. Fujairah had won three of the next four tournaments, while Abu Dhabi were the defending champions coming into this year’s final.
