DJ alleges police misconduct during New Year celebrations in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta

A fresh another complaint has emerged against the police over alleged misconduct during New Year celebrations, with a DJ claiming police interference at the Geo Ground in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala.

The Chief Minister’s Office said the ADGP in-charge of Law and Order has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the incident and take appropriate action.

The incident reportedly occurred late at night after the event ran past its scheduled time, prompting police intervention.

Sharing video footage on social media, the DJ, Abhiram, said, “I bought this gaming laptop with my hard-earned money to DJ at events. Now Kerala Police has turned it into a New Year’s gift by destroying it. What can ordinary people like us do? How can we even complain?”

While the show was going smoothly, one policeman approached the stage and the show was immediately stopped. However, another officer came onto the stage and kicked the laptop, he added.

Police reject charges

The Pathanamthitta police, however, dismissed the allegations. “Our intervention became necessary after a scuffle broke out at the venue and repeated requests to stop the event were ignored,” said an official.

They also denied that the laptop was deliberately damaged, calling the claims unfounded.
