Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday (January 8, 2026) favoured the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, stating it was the only solution for the vexatious pension question.
Referring to reports of sections of associations of the State government employees and teachers having written to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for removing the contributory component from the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS), Mr. Dhinakaran, in a post on his social media handle, said as the associations had pointed out several discrepancies and flaws in the proposed scheme, the State government should reconsider its decision of implementing the new pension scheme.
