A trailer for the upcoming one-hour Detective Conan special Episode “ZERO” The Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Case has been released.
This preview for the special, which premieres on January 3 and is set before the main story, wasn’t the only update for the long-running anime. Multiple announcements related to the show’s 30th anniversary were also made, including the production of its first two-hour-long special in 10 years and a new collaboration story with the J.LEAGUE (the last such collaboration content with the football/soccer league was in 2023).
Another collaboration story, this one with the JAPAN INTERNATIONAL BIRDMAN RALLY, will also be made.
Additionally, January 10 will see the introduction of Detective Conan‘s new ending song, “TOWA ~Eikyu ni Kaze ni Noru~” by Mai Kuraki, who in 2017 claimed the Guinness Record for Most theme songs sung by the same artist for an animation series due to her Detective Conan contributions (which numbered 21 at the time). Another music-related announcement is the Detective Conan Special Concert 2026 (Meitantei Conan Special Concert 2026), which will be held in Yokohama and Kobe next year. The Yokohama show will take place at K Arena Yokohama on April 17 and 18, while the Kobe performance will take place at GLION ARENA KOBE on May 23 and 24.
The Detective Conan TV anime premiered in 1996. It is based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama, which began serialization in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994 and has 107 tankobon volumes as of April 2025. Viz Media publishes the manga in English as Case Closed and describes it as such:
Ghastly beheadings, bloody murders, and coldhearted child abductions–
Precocious high school student Jimmy Kudo uses his keen powers of observation and astute intuition to solve mysteries that have left law enforcement officials baffled. Hot on the trail of a suspect, Jimmy is accosted from behind and fed a strange chemical which physically transforms him into a grade schooler! Taking on the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, he attempts to track down the people who did this to him. But until he finds a cure for his bizarre condition, Jimmy continues to help the police solve their toughest cases.
Can you crack the case before Conan does?
There is also a series of Detective Conan anime films, the first of which was released in 1997. The franchise’s 29th movie, Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi (Meitantei Conan: Highway no Datenshi), will premiere on April 10, 2026.
