Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has been nominated for Best Motion Picture – Animated at the Golden Globes.
The anime franchise film is competing against Arco, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amelie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2.
Previous anime Golden Globe nominees include Mamoru Hosoda‘s Mirai, Makoto Shinkai‘s Suzume, and Hayao Miyazaki‘s The Boy and the Heron. The Boy and the Heron, which was nominated the same year as Suzume, won the award.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle had its general theatrical release in the US on September 12, after premiering in Japan on on July 18. The film is the first in a planned trilogy that depicts the final battles of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series, which adapt the Shueisha-published manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. The global hit has made more than US$750 million globally (US$768,943,856 according to Box Office Mojo, ~US$780,032,099 according to The Numbers) after its China release.
Haruo Sotozaki directed the film at ufotable, which is also credited with script production.
