A Davoren Park resident is celebrating a huge $3.1 million win from a Keno draw, claiming to have been “kissed by a genie,” which he believes led to his incredible stroke of good luck. This life-altering event took place during draw number 260211 472 on Wednesday, February 11th, awarding him a grand total of $3,146,692.00.
The winner recounted the surreal moment when he discovered his win. “I was so excited yesterday that I ran out of the pub before I saw how much I’d actually won,” he shared. “I knew the prize amount started with a three and that was enough to shoot me to cloud nine.
“I’ve been experiencing a streak of good luck recently, and things just keep getting better. It’s like a genie kissed me at some point in time.”
The prize money means significant changes not just for him but for his family as well. “I immediately rang my parents last night and told them I’d buy them a house. It’s absolutely life-changing for my family.
“I’ll be able to chuck my brother and sister 150 grand each. It’s incredible! Right now, my head is still spinning. Thank you so much!” he said.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Playford Tavern, located at 80 Peachey Road, Davoren Park. Assistant Manager Chris Hui shared his excitement, saying, “It was incredibly exciting to hear we’d sold a major prize winning ticket,” said Chris. “It’s by far the biggest winning ticket we’ve sold to my knowledge. You certainly don’t hear of it too often.
“I wasn’t here yesterday when the win occurred, but I hear there was quite the buzz going around, with everyone frantically checking their tickets and hoping it would be them. A big congratulations to our winner. All the best!”
Apart from providing thrilling winnings to players, the proceeds from lottery games also support various community initiatives. In the last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries gave back more than $1.66 billion in taxes and donations to various causes, including health care, education, and disaster relief.
