Dandelion Anime Drops Striking Theme Song Animation Ahead of Premiere

The theme song animation sequence for the upcoming Dandelion anime has been released on X/Twitter, two weeks ahead of its April 16 Netflix premiere.

The vividly colored sequence, which also features doodle-like visual effects, stylized shading, and dancing, is set to the song “Goron to Doron” by Kocchi no Kento of “Hai Yorokonde” fame.

Dandelion is an adaptation of the debut one-shot by Gintama‘s Hideaki Sorachi. Netflix describes it as such:

Set within the Send-Off Department of the Japanese Angel Federation, Dandelion follows “Angels” Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane as they scramble to track down Earthbound spirits — souls unable to move on and find peace — and gently guide them to pass on.

The angels find themselves struggling to meet their daily tasks. However, Tetsuo Tanba and his leader, Misaki Kurogane, who make up the 21st Division’s Dandelion Clan, chose to take things at their own pace: instead of rushing through cases, they take time with each spirit, listening to their regrets and helping them resolve what’s holding them back.

One day, they encounter the Earthbound spirit of an elderly man who is running at full speed, trying desperately to escape.

Daisuke Mataga (Sabikui Bisco assistant director) is directing the anime at NAZ. Other production credits include Yosuke Suzuki (A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation) as series composer, Ai Asari (Sabikui Bisco co-character designer) as character designer, and Atsushi Ikariya (Sabikui Bisco) as assistant director.

Chikahiro Kobayashi and Megumi Han star as Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane, respectively.
