Croatia’s Jadran Split visits Hamdan Sports Complex

A delegation from Jadran Split Water Polo Club visited Dubai this week as part of talks on possible cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council.

The group met Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Council, at the Hamdan Sports Complex, where discussions focused on water polo development and future collaboration.

The Croatian delegation included Jasmin Devlić, Croatia’s Consul General in Dubai, and Josip Pavić, now State Secretary at Croatia’s Ministry of Tourism and Sport. Several former international players and club officials were also present.

Representatives from the Dubai Sports Council and Hamdan Sports Complex outlined the venue’s role in hosting international aquatic events, along with its use for community sport and major exhibitions.

The visiting players toured the facility before playing two friendly matches against the Dubai Camels, offering a first-hand look at the growth of water polo in the UAE.

At the close of the visit, Hareb presented the delegation with an English-language copy of My Life Taught Me by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Croatian club exchanged commemorative gifts with the Council.

Founded in 1923 and based in Split, Jadran is one of Croatia’s most established water polo clubs and a regular competitor in domestic and European competitions.
