The CPI(M) district leadership has rejected the remarks made by party district secretariat member and former MP, S. Ajay Kumar against the CPI and its State secretary Binoy Viswam. On Tuesday, Mr. Ajay Kumar launched a scathing attack on the CPI and Mr. Viswam, dismissing him as a fourth-rate politician.
CPI(M) district secretary E.N. Suresh Babu said here on Wednesday that Mr. Ajay Kumar should introspect and correct himself, and that a leader like Mr. Viswam should never have been denigrated even inadvertently.
Mr. Suresh Babu said relations between the CPI(M) and the CPI were fraternal and that his party would reject any statements that undermined that relationship.
The CPI(M) secretary said that Mr. Ajay Kumar might have made those remarks out of excitement while delivering a speech. “We will not agree to that,” he said.
Mr. Ajay Kumar had criticised the CPI by likening it to a lizard on the ceiling that imagines it is holding up the roof. He had further alleged that the CPI would blame the CPI(M) for defeats while taking credit for electoral victories.
Mr. Suresh Babu said no discussions had begun on candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. He added that Power Minister K. Krishnankutty’s party would decide who should contest from Chittur, and that the CPI(M) had no plans to stake a claim to the seat if Mr. Krishnankutty chose not to contest there.
