Concerns raised over growing menace of ganja sale

Leaders of AP United Teachers Federation (APUTF) on Sunday raised serious concern over the growing menace of ganja sale and its subsequent addiction among students in the State.

In a statement, the UTF’s State president N. Venkateswarlu and general secretary K.S.S. Prasad said the government should take stringent action against those resorting to sale of ganja. They said that awareness drive against drug menace should also be scaled up.

The UTF leaders said the government should take note of the intensity of the problem, as chocolates, cigarettes and cool drinks laced with drugs were readily available to students in areas close to educational institutions. They said teachers should play a key role in protecting students from the harmful effects of drug menace.
