A new café opening in the Adelaide Hills is inviting visitors to slow down, sip on something nourishing and surround themselves with art.
Inanna’s Café & Gallery in Springton will combine a relaxed café atmosphere with a creative gallery space, celebrating native botanicals and wellness drinks. Sarah Jane is behind the venture, one that is both a passion project and a family business.
“As a homeschooling mum, I’ve always believed learning doesn’t just happen in books,” she said. “This café is an extension of that philosophy.”
“It’s a place where my teenagers can develop confidence, responsibility, and business skills while we build something together as a family.”
The cafe and gallery concept blends a relaxed café atmosphere with an art gallery environment. As you walk into the old stone venue, natural textures, earthy tones and artwork greet each customer, crrating a warm and inviting space.
“Visitors are encouraged to slow down and stay awhile.”
The name Inanna, comes from the ancient Sumerian goddess of love, sexuality, fertility and war. She was known as the Queen of Heaven, representing powerful feminine forces, with warrior strength, beauty and transformation.
“Unlike many ancient deities, Inanna was complex and multidimensional,” Sarah said. “She embodied both soft feminine creation and fierce warrior energy, a balance of nurturing and power.”
As for the cafes menu, it focuses on crafted drinks and light meals made with quality ingredients. The menu will feature a fusion of Sarahs other business Manu Ruew Australia Native Botanicals, from which she’s developed a range of lattes and smoothies under the brand name Warrior Qi.
“Guests can expect specialty coffee, herbal drinks, smoothies, and café-style offerings with unique flavours.”
Although the menu may be pretty standard, what makes Inanna’s stand out is its combination of a café, creative gallery space and family-driven purpose. Sarah said she hopes the atmosphere feels calm, authentic and grounded which is something increasingly rare in today’s fast-paced world.
“For me the café is about more than food and drinks,” Sarah said. “Inanna’s has a dedicated community room where groups, such as mums, women’s and men’s groups, artistes can hold workshops for example.”
Inanna’s is believed to be Australia’s first wellness café dedicated to celebrating native Australian ingredients alongside nourishing café-style drinks and food, Sarah said.
The grand opening of Inanna’s Café & Gallery will take place on March 27.
