An Adelaide design brand best known for its jewellery is stepping into a completely different space, with Élever launching an intimate supper series that puts conversation and creativity at the centre of the table.
Founded by Adelaide-based designer Nathan James Crane, the monthly supper series will be hosted in Adelaide and limited to around ten guests per gathering. Although the first supper’s venue is yet to be announced, we know that it’ll be at an iconic, unexpected location.
While there’s no shortage of great events aimed at the corporate crowd, fewer spaces are left for creatives seeking connection.
“I’ve really been seeing, certainly over the last six months, a lot of creatives who are tired of how oversaturated things feel online,” Nathan said. “Not just content and promotion, but the way they’re expected to engage with each other.”
It may sound quite exclusive, but that’s exactly what it’s not. While the initial focus may appeal to those working across art, design and fashion, Nathan said the idea is not limited to one creative bubble.
“If someone’s interested and they’re a doctor, or in politics, or another field entirely, that cross-pollination is where things get really interesting.”
The inspiration behind the club was born over two years ago when he hosted a dinner in the old theatre at Kensington. “There was this really beautiful experience that happened around the table,” Nathan said.
“It wasn’t about networking or swapping business cards; it was slow, and the conversations just unfolded.”
Each evening will centre on a loose theme, drawn from art, design, fashion or broader cultural ideas. That theme will then shape the conversations around the table, and be infused into decorations, whether that’s tableware or cutlery – the purpose is to create points of conversation.
“The dinner will have a thematic thread, something like the future of craft or storytelling,” Nathan said. To help the theme and conversations flow, each supper will also include what Nathan calls a “conversation steward”, someone who briefly introduces an idea, practice or question at the table.
A philanthropic element is also part of each dinner, as ticketing profits will contribute towards a gifted seat at a future supper, creating a link between each event.
“It’s about extending the conversation,” Nathan said. “Each table supports the next, and that generosity becomes part of the structure.”
The first Élever suppers are expected to take place in the coming months, with early 2026 marking the beginning of the series.
