The Adelaide CBD has another venue zooming into the cafe scene, but this isn’t your run-of-the-mill coffee and cakes establishment, 2GTHER is bringing Adelaide’s first car cafe.

Located on the corner of Gouger Street and Morphett Street, the venue is designed to blur the line between café and car studio. A large viewing window allows customers to enjoy their coffee and food while watching cars being detailed next door, adding an unexpected and distinctly Adelaide twist to the café experience.

Behind the venture is a team of five sisters who have spent the past few years popping up at cars and coffee events across Adelaide and Melbourne. Vicke in architecture, designing the café; Sandra in photography, managing our socials; Jackie overseeing the food menu; Sonya working on the new merch; and the youngest sister, Aldia, creating fresh and refreshing drinks.

Alongside this, we each have our own careers, but we work hard together to keep the business growing and thriving,”co-owner Vicke said. “All of us love cars, so we’ve been doing little gigs at Cars and Coffee events.”

“The cafe sits alongside a car detailing studio, GZOX, and luxury car hire business, SA Luxury Hire.”

By day, it will serve specialty coffee, matcha, and Japanese-inspired sandos. As the sun goes down and dusk approaches, fun desserts will be served along with coffee for those who need a caffeine fix after dark.

“A lot of people love the Strawberry Matcha because we house-make everything, including the strawberry jam,” Vicke said. Another signature touch is the café’s cloud topping, a lightly sweetened cream that sits on top of iced drinks. “I’m a sweet tooth myself,” she laughs.

“We believe in never-ending improvement, so you can expect ongoing experimentation with food and drinks, bringing you fresh, exciting, and on-trend offerings.”

Food-wise, the focus is on quality and comfort. Expect sandos made with Japanese milk bread, premium ingredients, and free-range produce, followed by desserts that come into their own in the evening service. “Everything we want for ourselves, we want for our customers too.”

Inside, the atmosphere is designed to be relaxed, with free wi-fi and space to settle in, whether that’s to work, study or simply spend time with friends.

“The name 2GTHER represents connection and unity within our community,” Vicke said. “We’ll continue hosting events like cars and coffee, along with other exciting, engaging events/workshops in the future.”

Although the renovations are still underway, the sisters aim to open the cafe in late February or early March, in time for Chinese New Year.
