Prices of essential food items have started rising in Peshawar as Eid approaches, increasing the financial burden on consumers.
According to market sources, the price of chicken has surged significantly over the past week, with the rate increasing by Rs45 per kilogram. In the poultry market, the price of live chicken has reached around Rs405 per kg.
In addition to poultry, vegetable prices have also increased, with many items selling Rs20 to Rs30 per kilogram higher than previous rates.
Similarly, fruit prices have also risen, with some varieties witnessing an increase of up to Rs50 per kilogram in local markets.
Traders attribute the price hike to increased demand ahead of Eid, while consumers have expressed concern over the rising cost of essential food items during the festive season.
