The Ghaziabad police on March 14 arrested six individuals for allegedly being associated with a spying network that held ties with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. These individuals are accused of installing CCTV cameras at various places to transmit live video feeds about army routes, troop forces, and weaponry.
According to sources, the Ghaziabad Police has taken Sohail Malik, the mastermind of this racket, into custody. Along with Sohail, police have also arrested a woman named Mehak for being associated with the network. As the preliminary information suggests, Mahek maintained regular communication with the ISI handler and also distributed the work among all the members of the network.

She and Suhail also used to decide the payment for all the members associated with the network based on their work.
The police have seized the mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and all documents belonging to the Suhail-Mahek duo. It has come to light that the network installed a CCTV camera in the Delhi cantonment station and had the responsibility to install cameras in 50 different places.
“The Kausambi Police Station under the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate got a lead about several suspected individuals. When our beat officers started questioning them, they found out the link with the alleged spy gang. We have analysed their phones, galleries, and several others, and stumbled upon the connection with the gang.”
The police also said that, other than the Delhi Cantt station, the accused individuals also installed cameras at the Sonipat Railway station.
Meanwhile, the father of one of the accused said that his son was dragged into this by Suhail. “Suhail threatened him with kidnapping my daughter if he did not buy him three SIM cards. In panic, my son bought him three SIM cards, and he was later arrested by the police.
The man further mentioned that his son does not have the knowledge to install CCTVs.
