An unidentified person called MassPort and claimed there was a bomb aboard a Boston Logan Airport Plane, State Police said.
A bomb threat caused a JetBlue plane headed to Florida to sit on a tarmac at Boston Logan Airport “for hours” Saturday morning, a local outlet reported.
The bomb threat was determined to be not credible, State Police said.
An unidentified person called MassPort — the operating entity of Logan Airport — and claimed there was a bomb aboard a plane bound to Vero Beach, Florida, State Police spokesperson Tim McGuirk said in a statement to Boston.com.
FBI agents, firefighters, and bomb sniffing dogs boarded the targeted plane to search for the suspected bomb, CBS News reported.
Authorities instructed passengers that, in order to leave the plane, their luggage would have to be inspected by bomb detecting dogs, CBS reported.
“Troopers assigned to Logan Airport, the Anti-Terrorism Unit, and the Commonwealth Fusion Center worked with our partners in Florida to confirm that the report was not credible,” State Police said.
No arrests have been made in connection to the hoax, the station reported.
“If you see something, say something,” McGuirk said.
An investigation has been opened in response to the reports, police said.
