BITSian diaspora invited to partner in State’s AI mission

IT, Electronics and Communications Minister D. Sridhar Babu invited the global BITS Pilani alumni to collaborate with the Telangana State government in positioning Hyderabad as a leading global hub of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Speaking on the second day of BGM 2026 conclave held at BITS Pilani campus in Hyderabad on Saturday, he said that its diaspora could serve as a ‘force multiplier’ in strengthening Telangana’s innovation ecosystem and advancing its AI ambitions.

Chancellor of BITS Pilani Kumar Mangalam Birla, in a virtual address, spoke on the ‘BITSian spirit’ and stressed the importance of ethical leadership amid rapid technological disruption. He said that the BITS legacy lies not only in academic excellence but also in the resilience and adaptability of its alumni.

Discussions during the day were on purposeful, human-centered AI and frontier technologies for India. It also featured sessions with BITSians in Civil Services, a 90-day startup launch workshop, and the ‘Impact Dolphins’ social initiative.

Khammam District Collector Anudeep Durishetty received the Young Alumni Achiever Award 2026 for his contribution and support in public life.
