After taking a break for the Super Bowl LX and the 2026 Winter Olympics, “SNL” returned to the air for the 13th episode of its 51st season on Saturday, Feb. 28, with “Heated Rivalry” actor Connor Storrie as host and Mumford & Sons as musical guest.
Storrie and his “Heated Rivalry” co-star Hudson Williams have been quite the double act ever since the Canadian show became an unexpected hit for HBO Max this winter. The duo play closeted hockey stars on rival pro teams — Storrie’s Ilya Rozanov for the Boston Raiders, Williams’ Shane Hollander for the Montreal Metros — who begin a torrid romance together.
Storrie and Williams made an amusing appearance together during the 2026 Golden Globes, and have walked many a red carpet this winter, so it wasn’t a complete surprise when Williams showed up to Studio 8H to support Storrie as well. Williams popped up in a skating-centric sketch and helping his co-star introduce musical guest Mumford & Sons.
Storrie and Williams weren’t the only hockey-adjacent figures to make an appearance during Saturday’s episode, however: Members of both the men’s and women’s US Olympic hockey teams showed up wearing their gold medals during the monologue. Jack and Quinn Hughes represented the men’s team, while current Boston Fleet captain Megan Keller and former Fleet forward Hilary Knight represented the women’s squad.

Knight also had the opportunity to make a joke in about the weeklong saga involving the two teams. When President Donald Trump called the men’s team to congratulate them on their victory, he invited them to the State of the Union, and said he’d have to invite the women’s team too, or else he’d be impeached.
During an appearance on “SportsCenter,” Knight said Trump’s joke was “distasteful,” and said the President’s comments were “overshadowing” the team’s success.
Onstage at “SNL,” Knight had a joke of her own.
“It was going to be just us,” Knight said, standing next to Keller, Storrie, and the Hugheses. “But we thought we’d invite the guys, too.”
