Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has signed up for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after being withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Reports confirmed that the left‑arm seamer, who was on the books of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has been removed from the IPL amid security threats issued by extremist elements. Acting on guidance from the BCCI, KKR opted to release the Bangladeshi pacer from their plans for the tournament.
The move was widely condemned by the cricketing fraternity, with many calling out the BCCI for bringing politics into sports.
Rahman is no stranger to the PSL. He previously featured for Lahore Qalandars in the 2017–18 season, playing five matches and taking four wickets for the franchise.
His forced exit from the IPL sparked support from a number of former players and analysts, who pointed out that Rahman was set to be Bangladesh’s only representative in this year’s edition of the Indian league. The move to the PSL now ensures the 29‑year‑old will still have a major T20 platform this season despite the IPL setback.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have officially made it clear that it will not send its team to India for the T20 World Cup 2026, demanding ICC to move the team’s matches to Sri Lanka over “security concerns.”
