Banajiga Samaj to celebrate Sankranti Sambrama in Hubballi on Sunday

The Hubballi Taluk Banajiga Samaj will organise a day-long Sankranti Sambrama, a public celebration of Sankranti festival, in Hubballi on Sunday with an objective of conveying the significance of the festival to the younger generation and carrying forward a tradition.

Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Wednesday, event committee chairman and chartered accountant Channaveer Mungaravadi said that Sankranti Sambrama will be organised at the multipurpose exhibition centre on APMC Yard premises (First Gate) at Amaragol. It will begin at 10 a.m.

BJP MP Jagadish Shettar will inaugurate the programme. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, Chairman of VRL Group Vijay Sankeshwar, BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra, the former Director-General of Police Shankar Bidari and others are expected to participate.

President of the Hubballi taluk unit of Banajiga Samaj Gurupadappa Shiroor will preside over it.

Mr. Mungaravadi said that various eminent personalities from the community, professionals, businesspersons and office-bearers of Banajiga community associations from various districts of the State will participate in the event.

Cultural programmes, including folk songs by State award winner Shambhayya Hiremath’s team, competitions for women and children will be organised during the event.

And, the participants are requested to attend the event in traditional attire of the Banajiga community.

Coordinators of the event Channabasappa Dharwardshetter, Veranna Malgi, Basavaraj Shelvantar, Mallikarjun Shiraguppi and Prabhu Shettar were present.
