The Pakistan Super League (PSL) played a major role in shaping Babar Azam’s career, the star batter said during the league’s London roadshow.
The event brought together big names, including Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Sahibzada Farhan, and Wasim Akram in a packed session celebrating Pakistan cricket.
Speaking about his early years, Babar said the PSL gave him a rare chance to share a dressing room with world-class players such as Kumar Sangakkara, Chris Gayle, and Mahela Jayawardene.
He explained that spending time with these legends taught him discipline, professionalism, and how senior cricketers carry themselves on and off the field. Meeting his idol AB de Villiers, he added, was a “fan moment” he will never forget.
“It is always an honour to play for Pakistan,” Babar said. He added that the league has supported his growth from the beginning. “Senior players guided me throughout, and now I try to pass on my experience to young players.”
Calling senior cricketers “an academy in themselves,” Babar said he continues to focus on improving his game every day.
Top-order batter Sahibzada Farhan also praised the league for improving players’ skills, while fast bowler Haris Rauf called the PSL “a part of our lives” and credited it as a turning point in his career.
Legendary pacer Wasim Akram echoed similar views, saying the league has become a major platform for entertainment and talent development in Pakistan.
The iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground hosted the lively event, which showcased Pakistan cricket and also welcomed another elite panel, including PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Ramiz Raja, Wasim Akram, and PSL CEO Salman Naseer.
