Azad Kashmir Announces Winter Vacations for All Public and Private Schools

The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has approved winter vacations for public and private educational institutions across the region.

According to a notification issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, the Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education has formally signed off on the winter break schedule for all schools.

As per the notification, schools in cold areas of Azad Kashmir will observe winter vacations from 26 December 2025 to 26 February 2026, with institutions remaining closed for a total of 63 days.

For schools in relatively warmer areas, a separate schedule has been announced. These institutions will remain closed from 29 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with a 13-day winter break.

The statement clarifies that the winter vacation schedule will apply uniformly to all government and private schools across Azad Kashmir.

The decision in Azad Kashmir comes as education authorities across the country lock in their own winter vacation plans.

In Islamabad, federal schools and colleges under the Federal Directorate of Education will remain closed from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026, with classes resuming on 5 January 2026. Private schools and colleges in the federal capital, regulated by PEIRA, have been directed to follow the same dates for their winter break.

Provinces have also moved in a similar direction. Punjab has notified winter vacations for schools and colleges from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has adopted a zone-based schedule, with shorter breaks in summer areas and an extended closure in harsher winter zones.
