Adelaide foodies are getting their first look at what’s to come as Adelaide Central Market reveals an exciting preview of traders set to join its “once-in-a-generation expansion.”

The iconic market is set to double in size as part of the $400 million Market Square development, introducing a vibrant mix of new food, drink and specialty retail experiences. From artisan chocolate and award-winning pastries to fresh seafood, produce and new dining concepts, the first look at the new traders is giving us a glimpse of a whole lot more diversity and flavour.

The Adelaide Central Market General Manager, Fabienne Reilly, said the reveal is just the beginning.

“This is a first look at the incredible mix of traders that will help shape the next chapter of the Market,”
she said.

“The Market has always been about discovery – wandering the aisles, meeting passionate traders and finding something delicious you didn’t know you needed.”

All new traders include:

  • The Honey Shoppe
  • Red Cacao
  • Madam Seafood
  • Banana Boogie Bakery
  • Rohde Egg Co.
  • Geranium Shop
  • Never Never Distilling Co.
  • Yuku Do
  • Juan’s Torta Cantina
  • Sushi Train

“The expansion will bring even more of that magic,” Fabienne said.

“This group of traders gives a glimpse of the variety and creativity people can expect when the expansion opens, from hyper-local produce to globally inspired flavours and brand-new dining experiences.”

Among the first traders revealed is Adelaide Hills chocolatier Red Cacao, known for its handcrafted small-batch chocolates and decadent gift boxes. Pastry lovers will look forward to Banana Boogie Bakery, bringing its nationally award-winning baked goods to the Market for the first time.

Seafood fans will soon be able to shop at Madam Seafood, opening its first standalone store, while Rohde Egg Co will open its first ever retail stall.

“After more than 50 years supplying eggs across South Australia, opening our own stall at the Market
is a dream moment for our family,” said Martin Rohde, from Rohde Egg Co. “It’s incredibly exciting to share what we do directly with the community in such an iconic location.”

Sweet treats and specialty produce will also feature, with The Honey Shoppe bringing its hive-inspired honey products to the Market precinct after nearly three decades nearby.

The expansion will also introduce a range of new dining options.

Japanese-inspired café Yuku Do will serve up sandos, onigiri and vibrant matcha drinks, while Juan’s Torta Cantina will bring authentic Mexican street food to the Market’s growing list of international flavours. Fan favourite, Sushi Train is set to return to the precinct, giving shoppers a familiar favourite among the new additions.

Visitors will also find lifestyle retail among the food offerings, with the Geranium Shop bringing a curated mix of gifts, homewares and lifestyle pieces.

One standout addition, will be Never Never Distilling Co, the award-winning McLaren Vale distillery known for its bold Australian gins. The brand will introduce a new bar, dining and retail concept, giving visitors a place to settle in for a drink right in the heart of the Market.

With construction underway and opening scheduled for late 2026, the expanded Market will feature
traditional market-style stalls, food and beverage kiosks and larger dining and retail spaces facing
Gouger and Grote Streets.
