Another European Club Wants to Sign Pakistan Football Captain

Transfer interest in Pakistan football captain Abdullah Iqbal is widening again, with another European club reportedly moving into the race for the highly rated center-back.

Swedish side Mjällby are said to have received a multi-million offer from Turkish top-flight club Kasimpasa, while MLS outfit Columbus Crew are also understood to be tracking the 23-year-old and weighing up a move during the current transfer window.

The growing list of suitors follows a standout season for Abdullah Iqbal in Sweden, where he impressed as one of the league’s most dependable defenders.

Reports in Europe have previously linked Iqbal with interest from Hungarian champions Ferencváros and Belgian club KAA Gent, indicating that the defender has been on the radar of multiple teams seeking reinforcements at the back.

Earlier this month, Azerbaijani giants, Qarabag FK, showed keen interest in signing Iqbal and were preparing an offer to bring him in from Mjällby. Qarabag are among the strongest sides in Azerbaijan, currently sitting near the top of the domestic standings, and are known for their frequent participation in European competitions.

A move there could give Iqbal a higher-profile platform beyond domestic league football and the chance to test himself in continental fixtures.

The defender joined Mjällby in 2024 from Danish club B.93 and played a key role in the club’s title-winning campaign, a rise that has reportedly pushed his market value to around €2 million, with expectations it could increase further if he secures a move to a club regularly playing in Europe.
