The swift action and presence of mind of a jeweller in Punjab’s Amritsar foiled an armed robbery attempt. The two masked robbers also allegedly opened fire but fortunately, the bullets missed the jeweller.
According to information, the robbers entered the shop in Sandhu Colony on Monday and opened fire at the jeweller, shooting twice inside the premises. Fortunately, neither of the bullets hit the jeweller. Showing presence of mind, the jeweller managed to overpower one of the assailants, while the second robber managed to flee the spot. The robber tried hard to set himself free, but the jeweller overpowered him. The entire incident has been captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the shop.
The accused had arrived on a motorcycle. During the escape, one robber abandoned the motorcycle at the scene and fled. On receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot, and local residents handed over the captured robber to the police.
The police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding accused.
