Ali Tareen Exits Multan Sultans Ownership After PCB Dispute

Ali Tareen has officially announced his departure from ownership of the Multan Sultans PSL franchise following a dispute with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Describing the decision as the toughest of his career, Tareen expressed his deep emotional attachment to the team and South Punjab, a legacy closely tied to his late uncle, Alamgir Tareen.

In a statement posted on social media, Tareen says he would “rather lose the team standing on my feet than run it from my knees”

Despite incurring financial losses annually, Tareen said he stayed on for the passion and pride involved rather than profit. His exit is rooted in principles, as he refused to stay if it meant compromising on his values amid ongoing tensions with the PCB’s handling of franchise management.

Tareen urged fans to continue supporting the team regardless of ownership changes and vowed to remain a devoted fan himself.

The Multan Sultans franchise rights will now be sold to a new party for the next 10-year cycle beginning with PSL XI.

This significant transition marks the end of an era and opens new possibilities for the team’s future in the Pakistan Super League.
