Ahmed Shehzad Could Make PSL Comeback With One of New Teams

A Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise is reportedly weighing a potential return for former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad, as discussions continue within the Sialkot camp over whether to include him in their plans for PSL 11.

According to details shared by a representative of the franchise’s ownership group, the team management has been debating Shehzad’s inclusion, largely driven by fan requests, but the final call is expected to depend on one key factor: his availability for the tournament window.

Ahmed Shehzad has not played international cricket since October 2019, but he has remained active in the game through domestic cricket and stints in overseas leagues. He has also stayed in the spotlight in recent years due to his frequent commentary on Pakistan cricket, often critiquing team decisions, selection policies, and management.

Any potential return would come with baggage. In December 2023, Ahmed Shehzad announced he was stepping away from the PSL, alleging he had been consistently kept out of the league. Later, when he appeared in the PSL 10 draft list in January 2025, he dismissed it as a PR move rather than a genuine opportunity.

For now, there is no official confirmation that Shehzad has been signed or finalized for PSL 11. But the fact that the franchise is reportedly discussing his case suggests his name is back in the conversation, at least as an option, depending on timing, squad balance, and whether Shehzad is available and willing to return to the league.
