Adelaide is experiencing a slight change from the summer conditions today, with a cooler pattern settling in before temperatures rise again over the coming days.
Today, the city will see partly cloudy skies with a high of 31 degrees. A medium chance of light showers is expected during the afternoon and evening, with rainfall totals likely to remain low. Winds will shift noticeably through the day, starting north to northeasterly before a southerly change moves through by midday. Fire danger remains high for the Mount Lofty Ranges, while UV levels are forecast to climb to an extreme index of 13.
Tomorrow will be the coolest day of the week, with overnight temperatures dipping to 14 degrees and a mild daytime maximum of 23 degrees. Partly cloudy conditions and persistent southerly winds will continue to cool the city.
By Friday, the skies will clear again, bringing settled weather back to the capital. Adelaide can expect a sunny day with a top of 28 degrees, accompanied by fresh southeasterly winds. While temperatures remain moderate, UV levels will stay extreme.
The weekend will once again warm up, as Saturday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 33 degrees, followed by an even hotter Sunday reaching 34 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The heat peaks early next week, with Monday forecast to climb to 36 degrees before more unsettled conditions return on Tuesday, when showers are again possible, and temperatures ease slightly.
In northern and western districts of the state, showers and thunderstorms are expected today and Thursday, with the risk of severe storms and heavy rainfall in far northern areas. While agricultural regions are likely to see modest totals, parts of the far north may record significant accumulations by the end of the week.
Strong wind warnings are in place for multiple coastal zones through Wednesday and Thursday, including Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf. Coastal users and mariners are urged to remain alert and check local marine forecasts before heading out.
