Adelaide weather forecast for Tuesday March 3rd and the days ahead

Adelaide can look forward to a much more settled and increasingly warm week ahead, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures gradually climbing towards 30 degrees as a high-pressure system strengthens over South Australia.

The Bureau of Meteorology says a high-pressure system moving into the Bight is extending a ridge across the state, a pattern expected to persist throughout the week. While a low-pressure trough sticks around near the far northwest, it is not expected to significantly impact conditions in the metropolitan area.

Today, Adelaide is forecast to reach a top of 25 degrees under partly cloudy skies, with only a 5 per cent chance of rain. Winds will be south to southeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h. The UV Index is expected to reach 10, rated very high, with sun protection recommended between 9:40am and 5:10pm. Fire danger remains moderate in the Mount Lofty Ranges.

Clearer conditions return midweek. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with a minimum of 14 degrees and a maximum of 27 degrees. Light winds will become south to southwesterly at 15 to 25 km/h during the day before tending southeasterly in the late afternoon. No rainfall is forecast.

Thursday is expected to be sunny with a cool morning low of 13 degrees and a daytime maximum of 27 degrees. Light winds will become west to southwesterly during the day, with afternoon sea breezes developing near the coast.

Temperatures will continue to rise higher into the long weekend. Friday is forecast to reach 29 degrees under mostly sunny skies, followed by a sunny 29 degrees on Saturday. By Sunday and Monday, Adelaide is expected to hit 30 degrees on both days, with clear and sunny conditions dominating.

Statewide, conditions are also trending drier under the influence of the high-pressure ridge. Isolated light showers are possible about windward coasts and ranges later in the week, while parts of the far northeast may see minor rainfall totals between 2 and 15 mm. Most other areas are expected to record little to no rainfall, with cumulative totals generally below 2 mm for coastal districts.

Flood conditions continue to ease along parts of the Inland Rivers of South Australia. The Bureau has advised that flooding is easing along Cooper Creek at Innamincka, although elevated river levels persist along the Warburton River. Authorities warn that renewed rises remain possible in the coming weeks as upstream flows move through the system.

Happy Tuesday!
