Adelaide weather forecast for Tuesday January 27th and the days ahead

The hot conditions are continuing this week after a record-breaking few days of weather, with high temperatures, sunshine and a string of extreme weather warnings incoming.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, today will be an absolute scorcher, with temperatures hitting 41 degrees under clear, sunny skies. This is paired with Extreme Fire Danger and heatwave conditions across much of the state, including the Mount Lofty Ranges. With UV levels peaking at an extreme 12, sun protection is essential.

Relief of sorts arrives tomorrow, with temperatures easing slightly to a still-warm 33 degrees. Expect another sunny day with strong southeasterly winds.

Thursday turns the heat dial back up, climbing to 37 degrees with partly cloudy skies and brisk southeasterly winds.

Friday is forecast to be another hot one, delivering yet another 41 degree day. Mostly sunny skies and continued heatwave conditions will continue, particularly across metropolitan Adelaide, the Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and the Riverland.

The weekend brings a noticeable shift. Saturday drops to a more manageable 31 degrees with partly cloudy conditions, followed by a much cooler Sunday, sitting around 24 degrees. Monday continues the gentler trend, with mostly sunny skies and a top of 26 degrees.

Multiple warnings are in place, including Fire Weather Warnings for several districts and Strong Wind Warnings across coastal waters in Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent and Investigator Strait for the 27th and Far West Coast, Upper West Coast, Lower West Coast, Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent and Investigator Strait for the 28th. Gusty winds combined with very hot, dry conditions and the risk of dry lightning mean bushfire readiness is critical. There is also a total fire ban and Extreme Fire Danger in place for today in the Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East.

There is also a Code Red in place until tomorrow. Read more here.

Authorities are urging residents to activate bushfire survival plans, stay informed via local updates, and take heat safety seriously. That means staying indoors during peak heat, keeping blinds closed, hydrating constantly and checking in on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
