A cooler change has settled over Adelaide today, but the calmer conditions won’t last long, with temperatures climbing steadily into a hot start to next week before a mid-week easing.
For the rest of Thursday, Adelaide will remain partly cloudy with a top of 23°C and fresh southerly winds pushing through the metro area before easing later in the day. The change has knocked temperatures back below average, but a ridge of high pressure building across South Australia will quickly turn things around heading into the weekend.
Friday brings a bright return to sunshine with a mild morning low of 12°C and a comfortable top of 28°C. Conditions then heat up through Saturday, reaching 33°C under clear skies, before the mercury climbs further on Sunday to a mostly sunny 36°C.
The hottest day of the stretch looks set to arrive Monday, with temperatures pushing to 37°C and warm overnight conditions persisting into Tuesday. A possible shower is forecast Tuesday as the heat begins to ease, before cloud clears and temperatures drop back to a milder 29°C by Wednesday.
Across South Australia, showers and thunderstorms are continuing about the north, with heavy rainfall possible in the far north. A ridge of high pressure will keep southern parts mostly dry through the weekend, while rainfall totals of 5 to 40mm are possible in northern districts. Temperatures are expected to remain below average in parts of the north, while the south trends warmer into early next week.
