Finally, summer starts to show its face! Adelaide residents are in for a warm, but partly cloudy, day today, with a maximum of 34 degrees expected according to the latest updates from the Bureau of Meteorology. Light winds from the northwest to northeast will shift to a west to northwesterly flow around midday, before swinging southeast to southwest later this afternoon. The warm conditions mark a noticeably higher-than-average temperature for this time of year.
The outlook for the coming days shows a mix of conditions. Friday is set to bring a minimum of 14 degrees and a maximum of 28 degrees with mostly sunny skies, along with a slight chance of a shower in the evening. Cooler weather arrives on Saturday with a top of 22 degrees and the possibility of morning showers. By Sunday, temperatures will dip further with a maximum of 21 degrees and partly cloudy conditions expected.
Across South Australia, a ridge of high pressure continues to extend from the east, influencing conditions across the state. This system will interact with a low pressure trough moving eastward throughout today. Another high pressure ridge will form over the Bight on Friday before a weak cold front crosses southern coastal districts on Saturday. As the high shifts eastward on Sunday, most regions can expect dry weather with temperatures sitting around average or slightly below.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Fire Weather Warning for several regions, with extreme fire danger forecast for the Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, Murraylands and Upper South East. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to action their Bushfire Survival Plans and stay informed via local radio, the Country Fire Service website and BOM updates.
