Adelaide is settling into a far more comfortable summer pattern, with sunshine, mild mornings and warm, manageable days forecast for the week ahead following the cancellation of the recent heatwave warning.
Today will see cloud continue to clear, with temperatures peaking around 26 degrees. Winds will remain fresh from the south to southeast, helping keep conditions cooler, particularly near the coast. While the chance of rain is low, UV levels are forecast to remain extreme, so sun protection is still strongly advised.
Tomorrow brings a return to classic summer weather, with clear skies and a top of 29 degrees. After a cool start around 13 degrees, sunshine will dominate throughout the day, accompanied by fresh afternoon sea breezes. Tuesday mirrors Monday closely, with another sunny day and temperatures again nudging 29 degrees, making for ideal outdoor conditions without the intensity of last week’s heat.
Wednesday is expected to reach around 25 degrees under partly cloudy skies, with the chance of a few light showers near the southern and central coasts in the morning. Thursday remains similar, holding steady around 25 degrees with partly cloudy conditions and continued southerly breezes.
By Friday, warmer air begins to move back in, pushing the temperature up to 28 degrees under sunny skies. The week rounds out on Saturday with a return to hotter conditions, as temperatures climb to around 30 degrees, though still well below the extremes experienced earlier in January.
Across the state, a high pressure system is establishing itself south of the Bight, providing generally dry and settled conditions. While heatwave warnings have been cancelled, authorities are reminding South Australians that hot weather can still pose risks, especially following prolonged heat, and to continue looking after vulnerable people and animals.
Marine wind warnings remain in place for several coastal areas, with strong winds expected at times, and fire danger ratings are still elevated in parts of the Mount Lofty Ranges. Overall, however, Adelaide is set for a stretch of pleasant summer weather, offering a welcome reset after days of intense heat.
Happy Sunday!
