Your long weekend is officially here, and it’s shaping up to be a pleasant one across Adelaide, with mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures expected before a warmer change and the chance of showers arrives later in the week.
Today, you can expect mostly sunny conditions with a top of 27 degrees following a minimum of 15 degrees. Winds will be southeasterly at 20 to 30 km/h and the chance of rain remains very low at just 5 per cent. The UV Index is predicted to reach 9, rated Very High, with sun protection recommended between 9:50am and 5:00pm. Fire danger remains Moderate in the Mount Lofty Ranges and No Rating for the Adelaide metropolitan area.
Sunny weather will continue into Sunday, with temperatures ranging from a cool overnight low of 14 degrees to a maximum of 26 degrees during the day. Southeasterly winds of 15 to 25 km/h are expected, while the chance of rain sits at zero per cent. The UV Index will remain in the Very High range, with sun protection again recommended between 9:50am and 5:00pm.
Settled conditions are expected to extend into the start of next week. Monday is forecast to reach 27 degrees after a minimum of 13 degrees, with sunny skies continuing across Adelaide.
Temperatures will climb more noticeably by Tuesday, when Adelaide is forecast to reach 32 degrees under sunny skies following an overnight low of 15 degrees.
A change is expected midweek, bringing warmer overnight temperatures and the return of showers. Wednesday is forecast to see temperatures between 23 degrees and 34 degrees, with a shower or two possible during the day.
Showers are expected to continue into Thursday, when temperatures will cool slightly to a maximum of 24 degrees after a minimum of 17 degrees.
A high pressure system south of the Bight is currently extending a ridge across South Australia and will strengthen over the weekend. The system is expected to move eastwards late in the weekend and early next week ahead of a cold front forecast to move across the state around the middle of next week.
While Adelaide’s weather remains largely settled, flood warnings continue for parts of inland South Australia. Creek levels along the lower Cooper Creek around Innamincka are currently easing, though renewed rises are expected as upstream floodwaters from Queensland move through the system.
Elevated river levels are also continuing along the Warburton River at Poothapootha Waterhole, with further rises possible due to flows from the lower Diamantina River and recent rainfall. Authorities warn that many roads and access tracks remain impacted by flooding, particularly river and creek crossings.
Residents and travellers in affected areas are advised to check road conditions before travelling and avoid driving through floodwaters.
