Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday December 27th and the days ahead

Adelaide is settling into a classic summer pattern, with hot, dry days and plenty of sunshine dominating the forecast as the city heads toward the end of December and into the New Year.

Saturday is expected to be sunny, with temperatures peaking at 31 degrees. Winds will shift through the day, starting easterly before turning south to south-easterly in the afternoon and evening, offering some coastal relief without cooling things too much. UV levels are extreme, with sun protection recommended from mid-morning through to early evening.

Sunday brings more heat, with a top of 35 degrees and clear skies continuing across the metropolitan area. Conditions will remain dry, with light winds early before a southerly change in the afternoon. Once again, UV levels are forecast to reach extreme levels, making it a day to plan shaded activities or early starts.

Monday is shaping up as the hottest day of the week, with the mercury climbing to 38 degrees. Sunny conditions will persist, with dry weather and light to moderate winds throughout the day. A change later in the afternoon will begin to usher in cooler conditions, but not before another day of intense heat and extreme UV exposure.

Relief arrives on Tuesday, with a noticeable drop in temperatures bringing the maximum down to 28 degrees. Skies will turn partly cloudy, and while Adelaide itself is expected to remain mostly dry, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast for parts of South Australia, particularly to the west, east, and northeast. Any rainfall is expected to be minimal.

Milder weather continues into Wednesday and Thursday, with daytime highs of 26 and 29 degrees respectively. Partly cloudy conditions will make for more comfortable outdoor plans, including New Year’s Eve celebrations and New Year’s Day events.

By Friday, temperatures climb again to around 31 degrees, with mostly sunny skies returning as the new year settles in. While the heat rebuilds, it remains slightly less intense than the peak earlier in the week.

Across the state, a high-pressure system will dominate before a trough moves through early in the week, driving the temperature shift and increasing the chance of isolated showers in some regions. Fire danger remains elevated, particularly around the Mount Lofty Ranges, so residents are encouraged to stay informed and take precautions.

A marine wind warning is in place for today for the Far West Coast.
