Happy Friday! It’s a mostly sunny day is on the way for Adelaide with a top of 29 degrees expected, although there is a slight chance of a shower later this afternoon and evening. Light winds will shift throughout the day, moving from west to southwesterly around midday before turning southeast to southwesterly by evening.
The weekend will bring a noticeable cool change. Saturday drops to a high of 22 degrees after a mild 16-degree start, with a 40 per cent chance of showers, most likely in the early morning. Thunderstorms may develop around the northern suburbs during the morning and early afternoon. Southwesterly winds will pick up to 25 to 40 km/h in the morning before easing later in the day.
Sunday will cool further, starting at 11 degrees and reaching a maximum of 21 degrees. Conditions will be partly cloudy with only a minimal chance of rain. Winds will shift from south to southeasterly, turning west to southwesterly during the morning and easing by evening.
Looking into next week, sunny weather returns on Monday with a top of 26 degrees following a cooler 13-degree start. Mostly sunny conditions will continue through the week as temperatures gradually rise.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning for the Spencer Gulf on Saturday, with mariners urged to stay updated and plan accordingly.
Across South Australia, a low pressure trough affecting the northeast and far north will clear by late Saturday, followed by a weak cold front across southern coastal districts. A high-pressure ridge will then form over the south. Isolated rainfall and possible thunderstorms are expected over the agricultural and southern pastoral districts, along with fresh north to northwesterly winds in the north and gentler south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.
