Adelaide Fringe rallies crowds for the final weekend of a record-breaking season

We’re quickly approaching the final weekend of Fringe, and Adelaide isn’t slowing down just yet. As the 2026 season of Adelaide Fringe wraps up, the city is gearing up for one last weekend packed with everything from comedy and cabaret to circus, theatre and immersive experiences.

With more than 1,020,000 tickets already sold and over $26 million generated in box office revenue, this year’s festival is on track to become the biggest in Fringe history. Across the CBD, suburbs and regional hubs, the venues and streets have come to life with performers and audiences soaking up the atmosphere that defines Fringe season.

And while it might be the final stretch, there’s still plenty left to catch. A fresh wave of shows has launched this week, meaning last-minute planners and seasoned Fringe-goers have a whole new lineup to dive into.

Adelaide Fringe Acting CEO Tara MacLeod says the closing weekend is a celebration of everything the festival stands for. “This final weekend is a celebration of everything Fringe stands for. It belongs to the artists who take the leap, the venues that bring it to life, and the audiences who show up with curiosity and openness. There’s something really special in that shared experience, and it’s something that everyone involved can be incredibly proud of,” she said.

That shared experience has also delivered a major boost to the local economy. According to the Adelaide Economic Development Agency, the city’s East End has welcomed more than 685,000 visitors across the first four weekends, marking a seven per cent increase on last year and sitting well above regular foot traffic levels.

The financial impact is just as significant. Based on previous data, more than $75 million in night-time weekend spending is expected across the city during Fringe, with a large portion flowing directly into hospitality venues as locals and visitors make the most of Adelaide’s fantastic food and drink scene.

Long-time partner BankSA is also encouraging audiences to squeeze in one more show before the curtain falls, with eligible cardholders able to access discounted tickets on select performances.

So if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, this is your final chance to check out all the action!
