Loaded Cookie Mafia is bringing its indulgent New York-style creations to the Adelaide Central Market, taking over the Producer in Residence stall from February 17 to March 7 for a limited-time pop-up.
These are the kind of sweets that’ll leave you craving more even though you know there’s no way there’s a smidge of room left in your stomach.
The brand was founded by Tahlia Kanurski during what she describes as a period of “secret baking” while managing gestational diabetes during pregnancy, crafting recipes from scratch to avoid store-bought options. What began as a personal project evolved into a (not so secret) full-scale business focused on decadent, oversized cookies.
After relocating from Melbourne and spotting a gap for authentic loaded cookies locally, Tahlia has built a loyal following drawn to thick, stuffed bakes and bold flavour combinations. Earlier this year, the brand wrapped up a short-run shopping centre pop-up at Westfield Marion mid-January to the start of February, marking its final major mall residency before heading into the Market.
“I’ve waited years to be here, at my favourite Market in Australia,” she says. “To bring our cookies to such an iconic location is a dream come true.”
Pop on by and you can expect a rotating lineup of cookies, including the Cherry Ripe Loaded Cookie, the ever-popular Nutella Cookie packed with hazelnut richness, and dense, fudgy loaded brownies for those craving something deeper than a classic cookie.
The Adelaide Central Market is always buzzing with new flavours, fresh aromas and discoveries around every avenue. At the heart of that ever-changing energy is the Producer in Residence stall, a space dedicated to spotlighting a different South Australian maker each month and giving them the chance to showcase their craft to Market visitors. It’s become a launchpad for some seriously exciting local talent, and each residency brings something new worth seeking out.
