Abrar Ahmed Credits Quetta Gladiators for His PSL Success

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has said that his Pakistan Super League (PSL) career changed after joining Quetta Gladiators, as other franchises did not give him an opportunity.

“I didn’t get a chance in Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, and Islamabad play their own players. Then I went to Quetta, and they believed in me, which is why I got success,” Abrar Ahmed said.

The comments came during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) international roadshow organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in New York on Sunday.

Several Pakistani international cricketers attended the ceremony, including Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, and Faheem Ashraf. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Saeed Sheikh, was also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the PSL provides young talent with a platform to polish their skills. He stated that prize money plays a key role in motivating players and added that investors in the PSL receive significant benefits.

The PCB chairman also announced that the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League will begin on March 26, with the final scheduled for May 3.

He said the deadline for submitting bids for two new franchises is December 22, while the auction for the teams was initially planned for December 15.

Former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja also spoke at the ceremony, calling the PSL an excellent model for young cricketers. He said the league tests players’ temperament and allows them to learn from experienced international stars.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer, who was also present, said cricket fans show immense passion for the game. He stated that the PSL has become a key identity of Pakistan cricket and added that sports help bring countries closer together.
