Crunchyroll previously announced that it had secured the global theatrical rights (except Asia) for the film and brought it to US screens on October 20, 2025 as part of the Crunchyroll Anime Nights program.
The movie’s synopsis, via Crunchyroll, reads:
Miss Kobayashi, Tohru, Kanna, and Iruru’s peaceful lives are shattered when Kanna’s father, Kamun Kamui, leader of the Chaos Forces, arrives and forces her to return to the Dragon World to fix a past mistake. With a war brewing between Chaos and Harmony, Kanna must find a way to unite the two worlds but is torn between her loyalty to her friends and her father’s demands. Miss Kobayashi, however, refuses to let her go and tries to mend Kanna and Kamui’s broken bond. As dragons clash, Iruru uncovers a hidden force manipulating the war. Can they stop the war before it consumes both worlds?
The first season of the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid TV anime debuted in 2017, and was later followed by a 2021 TV sequel with the title Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and a short form ONA titled MiniDora (Mini Dragon). It is based on the Futabasha-published seinen manga series by Coolkyousinnjya, which started serialization in the now-defunct Monthly Action in 2013 (it currently runs in the biweekly MANGA Action) and has 18 volumes as of November 2025. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga as such:
Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!
