One could argue — that the April 2026 Draft is more important for the Eagles than any in recent memory. The 2024 NFL Draft was crucial to winning the franchise’s second Super Bowl in early 2025. Now after a largely unsuccessful campaign last season — the 2026 Draft Class will need to get the Eagles back there once again.
Now — they just got some help.
The Eagles have been award four compensatory picks in the upcoming April 2026 Draft. They gained a third-round selection (98th overall,) a fourth-round selection (137th overall,) a fifth-round selection (178th overall,) and a sixth-round selection (215th overall.) It brings their total 2026 Draft Picks to nine. The additional compensatory picks are due to free agents that the Eagles lost in 2025 — Josh Sweat, Isaiah Rodgers, Mekhi Becton, and Milton Williams.
The blueprint is there from seasons past. After being ousted in the NFC Wildcard Round of the 2022 NFC Playoffs by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the team selected Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen, Sydney Brown, Tanner McKee, Kelee Ringo and Moro Ojomo.
The Eagles Don’t Just Select Top Physical Talent. You Must Possess A Championship Caliber.
If you want to play for the Eagles, then you better not just have a high talent ceiling. You’d better have a character to match it. That isn’t because the Eagles are World Champions. It’s a pedigree requirement adopted by the Eagles that has brought them two Lombardi Trophies in eight seasons. It should have been three.
After all — the Eagles were the only team in NFL history to start two rookie defensive backs in the Conference Championship Game. It’s also the first time in franchise history that the Eagles have two rookie defensive backs nominated for the prestigious Rookie of the Year, presented by the Associated Press.
For a team with a long history of impactful draft selections under this front office — it’s not just more time on the clock in April — it’s more opportunity.
