Geelong premiership hero Tyson Stengle takes leave for personal situation

Geelong premiership forward Tyson Stengle has taken personal leave away from the club.

7NEWS understands the 27-year-old hasn’t returned to the Cats following the resumption of training post-Christmas as he deals with his personal situation.

It comes after Stengle commenced his break in December earlier than his teammates after a difficult period off the field.

It is hoped the small forward will return to the club in coming weeks, however the timeline remains fluid with uncertainty over his position in the Cats’ line-up to start the 2026 season.

Geelong face Gold Coast in Opening Round at People First Stadium on March 6.

Stengle received a career lifeline at the Cats after he was delisted by Adelaide in March 2021 after he was caught with an illicit substance.

In his debut season he was named an All-Australian and part of the Cats’ 2022 premiership.

Last season he booted 34 goals, playing 24 of a possible 26 games.
