A Surrey Downs favourite has been quietly receiving a facelift over the past few months. Now, just in time for summer, they’ve swung the doors back open on their newly upgraded beer garden, welcoming guests back through the doors over the last few weeks.
In a chat with Glam Adelaide back in April, the team revealed their ambitious plans. After running a pop-up bar in the car park in previous years, it now felt like the time for the crew to create something more permanent and suitable for all conditions year-round.
“Our vision was to create a space that caters to a wider audience,” Venue Manager Daniel explained in April. “The garden, which will connect to the sports bar, has a Mediterranean feel, with beautiful cobble flooring plus Cape Jaffa limestone and timber features. We believe this will be a warm, welcoming space perfect for any occasion.”
And that’s exactly what they’ve brought to life. The team worked closely with designers from Studio 9 to create a space that’s all about versatility and vibe. The beer garden is directly connected to the revamped sports bar, which now features a more efficient layout for watching live sports and major events, while still maintaining its classic sports bar charm.
The Beer Garden is light and airy, exactly as initially intended. Filled with bright white walls, wooden accents, and natural textures.
What was previously known as the Beer Garden now has a new name, The Deck. This means patrons now have multiple outdoor spaces to enjoy: one where you can kick back, watch sport and have a drink with mates, and another where you can sit and enjoy a great meal.
This summer, The Grove has also been utilising its indoor and outdoor spaces, welcoming locals for acoustic artists and DJs on the weekends. With huge Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve parties, the new addition of the beer garden is helping position this neighbourhood pub as a spot for all ages in the north. Whether it’s a laid-back lunch with the kids on the weekends, an easy weeknight catch-up with mates, or a spot to party on a Saturday while staying close to home, it really has become a great alternative for locals looking for a bit of fun.
Back in April, Daniel said, “This is something we think we have lacked for many years, so bringing this to life is a dream come true.” What they’ve accomplished is exactly that. A spot for locals with a point of difference from the other similar venues around them.
So whether you’re a local looking to return to an old favourite, or simply someone looking for a new place to enjoy a meal and a drink, The Grove, and its new beer garden, are the perfect place to check out this summer!
