Cricket infrastructure in Sindh is set for another boost as Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad is expected to undergo priority renovation and upgrades following the city’s inclusion in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
FKS has confirmed that its newly acquired PSL franchise will be based in Hyderabad, strengthening the league’s footprint in the province and making Hyderabad Sindh’s second PSL city after Karachi. The franchise was secured by FKS for Rs. 175 crore during the league’s team auction held in Islamabad.
With Hyderabad now part of the PSL map, attention has shifted to improving Niaz Stadium to meet the demands of hosting a major T20 tournament.
Officials and stakeholders see the proposed upgrades as key to delivering better match-day facilities for fans, as well as improved infrastructure for teams, broadcasters, and event operations.
When asked about the identity of the Hyderabad franchise, Fawad Sarwar of FKS Group said the team name has already been decided, but will be revealed later. He added that the full branding, including the official name, will be announced at a dedicated ceremony expected to be held with PSL officials and other stakeholders.
The addition of Hyderabad is being viewed as part of the PSL’s broader expansion strategy, and also marks a return of high-profile cricket representation for a city with deep roots in the sport.
In a similar development, Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot is also expected to receive a major facelift after the city secured its own PSL franchise. The eighth team was awarded to OZ Developers, which won the Sialkot rights with a Rs. 185 crore bid, above the Rs. 170 crore reserve price, while preparations continue for the league’s expansion.
