How to watch CHANNEL 9’s summer of tennis ahead of the Australian Open

Nine’s summer of tennis returns to centre court today with the United Cup, followed by the Brisbane International this weekend, setting the stage for the Australian Open later this month.

The action starts today with the United Cup, airing live and free on Channel 9 through to January 11. The mixed teams international tournament features 18 nations competing across Sydney and Perth, with each tie made up of men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed doubles matches.

This year’s field features a strong concentration of top ranked players, including Australia’s Alex de Minaur, world number one Iga Swiatek, defending champions Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz for Team USA, Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Britain’s Jack Draper.

The Brisbane field is led by world number one Aryna Sabalenka, former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev and reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

Australian interest is strong with Nick Kyrgios returning as a men’s singles wildcard and reuniting with Thanasi Kokkinakis in doubles as the Special Ks.

Also competing are Joao Fonseca, Frances Tiafoe, two time tournament winner Grigor Dimitrov and Australians Alexei Popyrin, Daria Kasatkina and Emerson Jones.

While the United Cup and Brisbane International anchor Nine’s summer coverage, the broader Australian summer of tennis also features several other lead-in events across the country ahead of the Australian Open.

The Australian Open begins later this month, running from January 12 through to February 1.
