The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax collection totaled at Rs. 6,169 billion during first six months (July-December) 2025-26 against the target of Rs. 6,490 billion, reflecting a shortfall of Rs. 321 billion.
The provisional data compiled on Wednesday revealed that the provisional tax collection figure for December 2025 stood at Rs. 1,425 billion against the monthly target of Rs. 1,446 billion, reflecting a shortfall of Rs. 21 billion.
The tax collection target of the FBR has been revised downward – from Rs. 14,307 billion to Rs. 13,979 billion for 2025-26, reflecting a decrease of Rs. 328 billion.
The revenue shortfall in tax collection has been substantially reduced in December 2025 after the recent joining of a new FBR Member Inland Revenue (Operations) Zubair Bilal apart from taking advances from big taxpayers.
