Meanwhile Canberra managed to keep their undefeated streak alive with a late, late winner from Sienna Dale.
Canberra’s young fleet have stepped up in recent weeks. With Mary Stanic-Floody setting up Sienna Dale and Sofia Christopherson setting up Sasha Grove in the match against Central Coast.
If The Wanderers are to take any points out of this match, it will need their best defensive performance since their 0-0 derby draw against Sydney FC.

Brisbane will play their first match since December 13th on Thursday night, away to the Central Coast Mariners, before coming back to host the Phoenix at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe.

Central Coast Mariners: Play Brisbane Roar on New Year’s Eve
Adelaide United ran riot against a struggling Western Sydney Wanderers side last weekend. After weeks of peppering opposition defences for no reward, finally one went in. Then they just didn’t stop.
Erin Healy scored two of their five against the Wanderers, the striker clinical in front of goal which is only a good sign for the home side.
Central Coast were cruising to a 3-0 win entering stoppage time at home to Melbourne Victory. However they were soon stunned, conceding three goals in six minutes to be held to a 3-3 draw and they’ll be hoping to banish those demons when they face Brisbane Roar on New Year’s Eve.
The Mariners have developed an effective partnership between Annalise Rasmussen and Isabel Gomez, with three Rasmussen goals coming from three Gomez assists in the last two matches.

Sydney FC: Game against Brisbane Roar was postponed
Melbourne City continued their climb up the table and Holly McNamara continued her supreme run of form, netting a hattrick in their 3-1 win over Perth Glory. Those three goals took McNamara’s tally for the season to seven, giving her outright lead in the golden boot race.
City having still only played six matches, their 3rd on the table is even more impressive. A win against Sydney will move them ahead of cross town rivals Melbourne Victory into 2nd, having played three fewer games than them
Initially scheduled to play Brisbane Roar last weekend, a poor pitch at Leichhardt Oval meant the game was called off which has given Sydney FC and head coach Ante Juric plenty of extra time to work on correcting what went wrong during their 7-0 drubbing against Wellington Phoenix two weeks ago.
